Rates
Content isn’t one-size-fits-all so, from long experience, we rarely charge by the word, page, document or project. Every job is different, writing is complex and subjective, and line-by-line editing is busy work. We therefore generally charge by the hour.
Standard: $90 per hour
- This applies broadly to complex writing and editing.
- As a rough guide, budget at least 30 minutes to 1 hour per 1000 words. That is, if your project is 10,000 words, expect a quote of around 5 hours x $90 per hour.
- Writeish isn't currently registered to collect GST. (Read more about GST guidelines for small business here.)
- We only bill for the hours we spend.
Variable: $70 to $130 per hour
We may quote more or less than the standard rate, based on your job's size, complexity and deadline, the expertise required, and whether you're corporate or not for profit. Our minimum rate is in line with the average hourly rate for editorial work in Australia.
Quotes
Best and worst case
We prefer to quote best (fastest) and worst (most complex) outcomes. The final result is usually somewhere in-between.
Fixed price
If your budget or organisation requires it, we can provide a fixed quote. If we get the work done inside the time, we only charge for the time spent. If the work turns out to be substantially different or more complex than anticipated, we'll mutually revise our expectations, and do what we can in the time quoted.
